When dealing with the major banks, everyone should have a dedicated mortgage broker, really! Mortgage brokers are especially ideal for those customers whom are particularily rate sensitive, perhaps unfamiliar with the entire homebuying process, maybe a little daunted by the complexities of various lending products, or simply intimidated/discouraged by the decisions of faceless credit grantors, or perhaps unable to make it into the bank during hours of operation, or simply unaware/misinformed of available alternative/secondary financing options, or maybe they are lacking working knowledge of the English language. Whatever the case may be, nobody should be openly subjected to the sinking duress derived from any one of these potentially problematic situations, especially when it comes to arguably the single biggest purchase of any given person's entire life. On the other hand, I can personally speak to this, because I too was once a frash-faced banker. Originally, I was surveyed by a fast-talking senior banker who kept me pre-occupied with various workplace quizzes, leaflets, brochures, and occassional 5 minute clip videos. I can honestly tell you, as a very junior personal banker managing a wide array of personal accounts, I felt intimidated, poorly coached and virtually thrown to the wolves while expecting to sell various mortgage and lending products. What was even more alarming, was the fact that our quarterly performance bonuses were almost entirely based on how many products we sold. Given this (among other things), would you seriously entrust someone who processes Visa and Overdraft applications to properly inform you of the various conditions surrounding your new mortgage account? It's hardly personable or professional for that matter. In my opinion, a good mortgage broker will be well experienced, knowledgeable, confident and most importantly have your best interests at heart. A good mortgage agent will have a complete understanding of your overall financial objectives and lifestyle preferences moving forward. More directly, a good mortgage broker would be considered a true life-long friend. That is exactly why, I wish to be your broker for life!

Sincerely,

Christopher Higashi
